Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Rules for writing articles for the journal Universum Historiae et Archeologiae

 

  1. Technical requirements. The editorial board accepts for consideration articles in Ukrainian or English, with a volume of 0.5–1.0 printed sheets (20–40 thousand characters), in electronic form, by e-mail or by self-registration on the journal’s website (http: / /www.uha.dp.ua). Text parameters: page format - A4 (210x297 mm), character size - 12 pt, spacing - 1, headset Times New Roman. Text materials should be prepared in MS Word, OpenOffice or RTF format. Margins of the page: left 30, right 10 top and bottom 20. The text should be edited literary, without errors. Pages are not numbered. Tables and figures should be numbered in accordance with the text of the article.
  2. The structural elements of the article are presented in the following sequence:

1) UDC (left justification, regular font, size 12 pt)

2) the title of the article in Ukrainian (center alignment in lowercase, bold, size 14 pt, line spacing - 1, no more than 12 words);

3) the author's initials and surname in Ukrainian (center alignment in bold italics, size 14 pt)

4) academic degree, academic title in Ukrainian (center alignment in regular type, 12 kengl kengl)

5) ORCID (available for free at http://www.orcid.org), ResearcherlD, Scopus ID (center alignment in regular font, size 12 pt)

6) e-mail of the author (center alignment in regular type, 12 pt each)

7) contact phone number of the author (center alignment in regular font, size 12 pt)

8) the institution represented by the author in Ukrainian (center alignment in italics, size 12 pt)

9) the official address of the institution, city, country in Ukrainian and zip code (center alignment in italics, size 12 pt)

10) abstract in Ukrainian (1,500 - 2,000 characters in regular type; size - 10 pt, line spacing - 1); annotation elements: purpose; method (s) main results, brief conclusions; practical value; originality; scientific novelty; type of article (theoretical, empirical, archaeographic, review, etc.)

11) keywords in Ukrainian, 3-6 terms (phrases) that do not duplicate the words from the title of the article, but serve as additional search descriptors for the essay (in regular type, the element “Key words:” is bold, font - 10 pt , line spacing - 1, words are separated by a semicolon));

12) in the footer of the first page are placed:

Copyright in the format: © Last name, initials, year. For example: © Osmomisl J.S., 2019.

- information about the sources of funding for the study (state registration number and topic name, code and name of the grant, etc.). For example: Article prepared in accordance with the tasks of the state budget topic XXXXUXXXXXX "Sociocultural processes ..."

13) LCC (Library of Congress Classification) code, for example, “LCC DK508” for the history of Ukraine (the necessary section can be found in the corresponding classifier file at https://www.loc.gov/aba/publications/FreeLCC/freelcc.html) (left justification, in normal type, size - 12 pt)

14) the title of the article in English (center alignment, lowercase, bold, size - 14 pt, line spacing - 1, no more than 12 words);

15) the author's initials and surname in English or in Latin transliteration (center alignment, bold italics, size - 14 pt)

16) academic degree, academic title in English (center alignment, in normal type, size 12 pt)

17) ORCID, Researcher lD, Scopus ID (center alignment, regular font, size 12 pt)

18) e-mail of the author (center alignment, in regular type, size - 12 pt)

19) contact telephone number of the author (center alignment, in regular type, size - 12 pt)

20) the institution represented by the author in English (center, italics, size - 12 pt)

21) the official address of the institution, city, country in English and postal code (alignment with center, italics, size - 12 pt)

22) abstract in English (2000–4000 characters, in regular type; size - 10 pt, line-spacing - 1); annotation elements: purpose, method (s); main results; brief conclusions; practical value; originality; scientific novelty; type of article (theoretical, empirical, review, etc.)

23) keywords in English (under the annotation), 3–6 terms (phrases) that do not duplicate words from the title of the article, but serve as additional search descriptors for the essay (in regular type (the word “Keywords:” is bold), size 10 pt, line spacing - 1, words should be separated by a semicolon; each word begins with a capital letter)

24) elements of the main part of the article: statement of the problem; historiography; purpose of the study; historical sources; statement of the main material and results; discussion; conclusions; thanks (all named elements should be in bold)

25) bibliographic references (the word "References" - center alignment, bold, size - 14 pt); each bibliographic name should begin with a new line; bibliographic list items must be formatted according to Harvard Referencing Style (http://www.citethisforme.com/citation-generator/harvard) (alignment evenly, size - 12 pt, line spacing - 1, in alphabetical order).

27) the date of receipt of the article by the editorial board is put at the end of the text, after References (italics, size 12 pt). For example: Received: January 25, 2019.

3. Information about the author includes the surname, name and patronymic of the author, academic degree, academic title, position, place of work or study, contact phone, e-mail, ORCID, Researcher lD, Scopus ID.

4. Scientific ethics. The text of the article was not previously published and was not sent for consideration to the editors of other journals or collections of scientific papers. Texts of articles should not contain offensive, xenophobic, racist and similar expressions. The editorial board checks the texts of articles for scientific integrity (lack of plagiarism). The level of independence (originality) of the text, taking into account citations, should not be lower than 75%. In case of violation of this requirement, the editorial board automatically rejects the submitted work.

5. Scientific examination of articles. All articles are subject to double-blind peer review by independent reviewers. The author has the right to take into account the comments made by the reviewers and resubmit the revised text to the editorial board.
6. Copyright on the content, authenticity of facts, quotes, numbers and surnames belongs to the authors of the materials.
7. Articles undergo literary editing. The editorial board of the publication reserves the right to reject articles that do not meet the requirements and the topic of the scientific journal.
8. Publications are carried out on a paid basis after the approval of the article by the editorial board. The approximate price of the publication is UAH 150. for 1 page.
9. The editorial board accepts articles for consideration by April 1 (issue 1) and September 1 (issue 2) every year.
